Dena Knippen is the president of Critical Elements LLC. She brings over nineteen years of professional experience in the medical field to the company. She started her medical career at the age of sixteen as a state-certified nursing assistant in long-term care. She worked at a large insurance company reviewing workman’s compensation cases and claim submissions while taking classes to become a registered nurse. Dena worked as a nursing assistant in an acute care hospital setting throughout her nursing clinical rotation. Upon completion of her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from James A. Rhodes State College, she worked on the Critical Care/Cardiac Telemetry block of a 400-bed acute care hospital. Dena furthered her nursing experience by working as an auditor reviewing hospital cases and claim denials for risk and compliance. She graduated with honors in 2011 from Wright State University’s Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing program. In 2012, she completed Ohio State University’s Legal Nurse Consultant program. She has expanded her knowledge by becoming a Certified Professional Coder through the American Academy of Professional Coders. Dena is licensed to practice nursing in both Ohio and Indiana.
